Just 1 ¼ hours from St. John's the Brother Brennan Environmental Education Centre provides an escape into the boreal wilderness. To get there turn off the Trans Canada Highway at junction 35 (approx. 47 km from St John’s) which is the exit for St Mary’s Bay down route 90 or Salmonier Line. From this exit drive 9 km towards St Mary’s Bay and turn right onto Vineland Road which is just before a driveway that features stone lions sitting on gateposts. Follow Vineland Road (a dirt road with cabins) for 7km and take the 4th turn on the right. There is a “Brother Brennan Centre” sign on the opposite side of the road. Drive a further 6km and you will see a large sign about the wind-turbine project on the right hand side of the road. This marks the entrance to the Centre. The buildings are a further 500m down this driveway. Please be aware that it is necessary to limit your speed on the 13 km of dirt road which normally takes about 30 minutes. Take your time and enjoy any wildlife that you see on the way.

Located five minutes further down Salmonier Line is the Salmonier Nature Park. The park provides an opportunity to view Newfoundland's flora and fauna up close. Here you can see bald eagles, otters, moose, and beavers, all in one day.  Also nearby is the beautiful WILDS golf course and resort. Further down route 90 are the Town of Colinet and the amazing Cataracts Provincial Park. Here two large bridges span a magnificent waterfall, with some of the best fishing in Newfoundland a short hike up the river.
